Philosophy and Mission of Youth Ministry at the Cathedral of St Jude the Apostle
St. Jon Bosco developed a philosophy for formation that the Salesians adopted that is based on four pillars. Those pillars are to have a school to learn in, a church to pray in, a playground to play on, and a kitchen to cook and eat in. It focuses on the importance of a diverse relationship with Christ and seeing the Holy spirit through human nature. We try to emulate that philosophy at St Jude with the addition of 2 pillars. That of understanding and properly using the free will that God gave us through our gifts and talents, and service to others. It all comes back to “Honor your Father in Heaven and Love your neighbor as I have loved you.”
Our Mission is to form the youth of our parish into the Men and Women that God created them to be, to see that they have been created with a purpose from our Father in Heaven, a living real life relationship with Christ, and that the Holy Spirit guides them and cares for them as they live out life with the Goal of Sainthood. Each of our programs lead into and blends into one another to create a foundation of Faith and Spiritualty. The goal is to plant seeds where they are, nurture them until the fruits ripen, and leave them with strong community and spiritual roots to support them in the future seasons of life.
We are also committed to the protection of children and vulnerable adults. Please click here to read the Diocese of St. Petersburg policy.
