“Let there now be no doubt or confusion on anyone’s part: For us, your bishops, our obligation to protect children and young people and to prevent sexual abuse flows from the mission and example given to us by Jesus Christ himself, in whose name we serve.”

~ from USCCB Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People

The Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle and the Diocese of St. Petersburg are fully committed to ensuring that children, young people, and vulnerable individuals who worship, study, or participate in activities sponsored by our Diocese and by our Cathedral can do so in the safest and most secure setting possible. The Diocese of St. Petersburg has implemented the Safe Environment Program (SEP) in full compliance with the  USCCB Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.

The SEP has training programs in place to educate involved parties on how they can protect our children, young people, and vulnerable individuals from abuse and we perform background screenings on all those individuals working with children, young people, and vulnerable individuals. The full policy can be accessed at Diocese of St. Petersburg Policy for the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults
